For those of you who care. Here is the recording of the Google+ Hangout with Joe Satriani that I got to participate in. I’m on at the 5:10 mark.

Those invited were selected from questions that were submitted to Joe’s Google+ profile. I knew I had to think of a question that stood out from the crowd as the majority of those that were submitted were either music theory based or some lame question that fans always ask.

So - although my question wasn’t something I would have wanted to ask (I would’ve wanted to ask him more of a music theory question) it was original enough to get me into the hangout and gave me the opportunity to chat with the Satch himself!

P.S. Although I tell him I would take him to the slopes if he came to SLC - I have only gone skiing twice in my life… and I’m not too fond of any snow related sports.

A pretty magnificent thunderstorm was passing through out neighborhood just as I was getting ready to sleep. I’ve never caught lightning on camera and I thought to myself that this was a perfect opportunity… but I was ready for some sleep. Then a loud crack of thunder snapped the sleep right out of me. I ran down stairs - grabbed the camera and tripod - set the exposure time to bulb and started shooting out our front window.

Remember - photos always look better on flickr

I couldn’t get this song out of my head - so I decided to try record it myself with a little bit of a blues touch.

For audio:
I did all recording on GarageBand with a bit of post editing on Adobe Soundbooth. I recorded the sections of this song and created loops - making it much easier to record.

I used the Zoom H4n as the mic.

For video:
I used a Canon T2i with a 50mm 1.2 prime lens for all video.

I did post in Apple Motion.

The tunnel between the A and B terminals in the Detroit airport looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. My nerdness loved it.
